Ok so ive just fitted a 2nd hand champion winch to the front of my 90, I know they have a few bad reviews but its only the odd time it will get used..

Today i bumped into someone who wants £100 for a super winch he took off the front of his discovery 1 that died..

So I was wondering if the super winch was worth it as I would love to have a rear winch as well...

Would this be able to be mounted on the rear?

As soon as i know more info about the winch ill let you know. Thanks

Had a superwinch budget was no better than a regular Chinese, now have a champion HS and is far better than anything I've seen, not warm quality but warn design internals, which makes a bug difference, generally is superb in comparison, was also dearer than my superwinch was so that's saying something.

Would not have bought champion/warrior if wasn't assured by retailer that HS model has good internals

Depends what super winch as well.

Something like a husky is good and strong but by fook there slow! Discopol swears by his tigershark or whatever its called.

Research and opinion is your best bet. Don't just buy something you think is a good deal at the time.

He's right, I swear by the cheapo tigershark I run, it takes the abuse is reliable was cheap and does what it says on the tin, but it is a bit slow. Gets used every weekend about 4 or 5 pulls on average, but one small complaint I have now is the steel line does get a bit worn quite quickly, in on my 3rd now in 16 months but then I'm pulling in rocky sandy forests with loads of obstacles and mud.

Maintenance is the key but I'm happy with mine.

Ok its a super winch ep9, Seems to be in not too bad condition, wire rope on it has had it tho so will want replacing, seems to have an albright equivalent (or at least looks like) solenoid on...

Has anyone come across an Ep9 before? Any good? and would it fit on the rear, or behind the rear cross member on a 90?

I quite like the look of the winch max still can't make my mind up wether to go for a 12,000lb or a 17,000lb one, i know the 17,000lb'er is probably a bit ott but thinking it would save messing about getting the snatch block out and strapping it to something to help with the pull where as the 17,000lb 'er would have the power to pull without using a snatch block all the time :)
