ive gorra freelander 2 td4 hse does anybody know for cert that the radio comes with dab as standard cos i aint and i may need to argue with the seller

No need for two threads on the same thing……although the one in the intro section would have been more useful as a real intro rather than a call for assistance as this part of the forum is where you'd post that kinda stuff.

i stand corrected , im a bit new at the procedures and was in a bit of a hurry , the car is going back in friday and i am keen to have some ammo to fire at the salesman

Scotty do you have DAB in your car??

I do, and when it works its brilliant and I use it over FM every time.

The only problem I do find with it is that in rural areas coverage can be a bit patchy.

As for the question posted by the OP, no idea, but I'd be surprised if it was a no cost option.

I have a October 2007 HSE and is does not have DAB. The top left button on the radio says FM Digital, but this refers to digital tuning, not DAB. I gather from your other thread that your car is 2008 so I guess yours will be the same.

I think later cars have it as standard (maybe 2010/2011 onwards?), but it might have been available as an upgrade before then. You would need to check with a dealer or Land Rover what the spec options were for your car.

It depends on the year.

I'm not 100%, but i think the earlier ones didnt have DAB. Then 10MY, all High and Premium infotainment systems have DAB i think.

Is there a button on your radio that says DAB?

When you switch on the stereo, does the LCD splash screen say DAB on it?

think he was worried he should have had it and didn't. If the radio doesn't have DAB, it won't have the DAB button.

I would be suprised if someone has swapped the stereo for a lower spec model as it's a right prick ache to do, and a main dealer jobby to change so I believe. The stereo is coded to the ecu so will only work in the car it was originally installed in.

No sure if you could reprogramme it with autologic or similar, but it is my understanding main dealer only.

The button marked "Digital" is on all high line radios regardless of whether DAB is fitted.

DAB was an option on early cars with high line radio.

thanks for all the replies , the car is back in the dealers at the moment getting a new turbo charger and the sunroof motor replaced , he says he gonna look into thr dab thing along with auto lights (not working ) and auto windscreen wippers (also not working )
actually not much is working , wouldn't you know it the last owner is a mechanic , no service history either , what have i bought ?

good news , got me car back with everything repaired except the dab radio , so it looks like my car did not have dab fitted and , like the others mentioned the button says fm with digital below it , but what the hey ! it still sounds great even going over the penines .
My other little problem is , can i get a software upgrade so that the radio will download my samsung galaxy s 3 phone book , it pairs up ok but wont download the the numbers
its a smashing car otherwise

Apologies for re-awakening an old thread but has anyone replaced the head unit in a freelander 2.

Just got a 62 plate hse and want to change the head unit to something that'll support playing music over Bluetooth from my phone.

Any suggestions appreciated.

And apologies in advance to any flame-ers if this issue has already been addressed in earlier threads.

I don't think you can. Pop over to Freel2.com If it's been done before it will be on there.
