Door mirror got whacked, mirror glass popped out and motor pack stopped adjusting left-right.
Didn't fancy beaker prices for an entire mirror assembly, and doesn't seem like the D2 motor packs are sold as a separate item, but whilst googling about I noticed this Mondeo/Galaxy/Vectra motor pack looked similar, so took a chance and ordered one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221896860593
Turns out they're a perfect substitute *except* that the "cuff" (the bit that's moved by the motors) has a different outer rim from the D2 version. However the inner part is fully compatible, so as long as your existing motor pack has gone wrong somewhere in the internals (the most likely case - one of the white plastic "racks" had broken off next to the little push-fit swivel joint on mine), you can buy one of these and then carefully separate the cuff off your old one and move it across.
Here are the two motor packs side by side, the new one is at the bottom, notice the four lugs which are different from the D2 pattern -
And here's my original LR pack with the cuff removed - just pop out the little swivel joints on the end of the little racks, then carefully lever the cuff away from one end of the white rocker in the middle - also notice the problematic rack with no swivel on the motor on the right -
Job done, mirror back together and all adjustments working. Only niggle is that the polarity on the L-R motor appears to be reversed from before - and if that bothers you avoid this "hack", but TBH for 10 squids I couldn't give a monkey's.
