L322 Stuck suspension strut bolt.

A portable induction coil is nice if you can get it around what you want to heat
I imagine the gas doesn't last long :rolleyes: I have an Air Liquide Petit Prodigy with refillable bottles and that doesn't last long on big stuff, wish I had got the next size up. No rental on the bottles over here, you buy the bottles and then just pay an arm and a leg for refills:eek:
 
One session this morning and 30 mins of heat over three attempts this evening with wd down when red hot and it’s shifted. Been soaking all night and day.
 
Well done mate know what you meen I've been getting bolts out from under my old girl that are originals 20 years

It’s not too bad , I only use it with the small nozzles if that’s the correct term and it lasts ok for a getting you out of the poo tool. I used it to open a TD6 turbo and that used a bit but any prolonged heating of larger parts used it up quite quickly. The good thing is the flame is very precise so you can really be accurate with what you are heating. with big boy sets of oxy acetylene I imagine turning around and chopping the car in half especially with the full size ‘gas axe’
I remember having a go with a carbon arc torch on my brothers arc welder, they are quite impressive but should only be used under the instruction of a Jedi along with his plasma cutter - you need a priest present as well for that thing.:)
 
Daft question but how do you remove the damper bolt on the old one, assume best done in insitu? The new one doesn’t come with it’s I guess it need swapping over

Gez this job just keeps giving. Look like couple of probs :)

Drive shaft has come out with all the effort to get the bolt out. How the feck do you knock that back in? Second issue it came out and no oil, although the car is jacked one side.

Drive shaft has come out with all the effort to get the bolt out. How the feck do you knock that back in? Second issue it came out and no oil, although the car is jacked one side.

Officially according to Rave it says fit new circlip, grease the seal and replace it - in layman's terms, give it a shove with all you might and then give it a yank to make sure it doesn't come back out..

Depending on what you have reconnected that might be easier said than done, as long as it is still in the hub then you can use the weight of that but they expand, contract and flop around so it might be a bit like the back of a ford escort mk1 after 6 pints.. you will get there in the end though - my daughter is 24 this year but then she does look a lot like @tomcat59alan but i'm not counting . :)

Does she trim her own beard like me? Which reminds me must get the hair clippers out soon, I'm doing a fair impression of Grizzly Adams at the moment.

A few lock to lock turns will tell you probably , forward and reverse in off road height and access, you might want to make sure you have enough oil in it, if it was jacked up it might not have leaked anyway but worth a check
