I've just serviced brake and hub parts on my 2A's OSR. The hub lock nuts came off no problem.

Moving to the NSR now I can't budge the outer hub lock nut. I've bent a socket set T-bar in my box spanner using a 2' extension pipe with no luck.. no movement at all.

It looks like the previous owner had been using a hammer and screwdriver instead of a box spanner leaving some large indentations. Maybe they've damaged the thread on the stub axle in doing this?

- Hub lock nuts *do* tighten clockwise both sides of the axle, right?
- Any suggestions for getting this off? I'm wary of damaging the stub axle..

Cheers,

Yes that slot in the stub axle is a good place to go for a split, good suggestion.

I will have one more try to budge it with a club hammer and chisel. I can probably apply more force in a moment like that than by turning a box spanner with a lever.

I'm putting new nuts on as I go so this shouldn't be a problem in the future.

I just finished using a very small angle grinder to cut the races off my hubs. It was about an 1.5 inch disc. Cut most of the way through then chiseled it the rest off the way. Heating it is a good way to lessen as well. Good luck.
