Hi Everyone,

Hope someone out there can help. My 2001 P38 has suddenly shown EAS fault, gone to full ride height, lights all flash for a while and then stay on . Handbook suggests it matbe a minor fault but , of course, gives no indication of what!

Have tried switching off ignition turning on again, plus removing and replacing fuses/relay but all to no avail.

Any suggestions please?

It has a soft fault that will eventually go to a hard fault and drop you to the bump stops. You need the EAS software and cable to read and clear the fault. Then you will need to sort the cause.

Agree with Datatek above - Could be a multitude of things from a dicky height sensor to a confused driver pack....

Coincedentally Datatek does supply the Diagnostic Cable and Software for a princely sum of about £11 plus p+p....send him a PM to arrange....

This little device will allow you to read and clear the EAS Fault Codes, calibrate height sensors and do diagnostic testing on the system....

Without the fault codes we could be guessing till doomsday....

:welcome2: btw...

Many thanks to both Datatek and Saint.V8.

Datatek, can you supply cable and software as mentioned? If so how can we proceed?

Thanks again.

PM sent with details.
While you are waiting, have a good look at the airbags, if they are original they almost certainly need replacing, they have a life of 7/8 years 80K miles.

Soapy water spray will show up most leaks:)

Just a quick update on my issue. Have as Datatek suggested used soapy water to chack for airbag leaks and low and behold front nearside leaking all the way around base!!! Others look original and all OK -- car is 2001 but only done 56k miles.

Still waiting for new airbag ordered 2 weeks ago thanks to supplier sending me a rear for a Disco 2 at first attempt.

Will update when job under way.

Thanks again for help. Cheers Dmanrace

If the other airbags are original, they need to be replaced before they fail on you at an awkward moment. Bag life 70K miles 7/8 years.
NEVER replace just one, at the very least replace both on the same axle.

I agree.
Never replace one.
Do them both on same axle at same time!
Other wise you will be at it for the next few months!
When one has gone the other one will follow!

Hi All,

Back again, I'm afraid.
Fitted my new front air springs, turned out easier than I thought thanks to all advice. Compressor has pumped up OK back to "Full Ride Height".

Now want to clear EAS fault, plugged in my serial cable to lap top and to car. Installed disc to access EAS faults and started up car.

Can't initialize test program --message I get is need to access EAS tools drop down menu to calibrate (?) cable and open port. Anyone know how to do this is please????

Cheers dmanrace

Have you got Netframework on your comp it needs that to work. If not download from Microsoft site.

Never seen a message that say's you need to calibrate the cable:confused: Normally you need to access the EAS drop down menu to select the comms port, this is often comms port 4:)
