morning,

I was hoping that someone may be able to know if there is an alternative stub axle to a FRC3925. I think this from a post 80, 109?

Would the pat number 599827 work with the oil seal Coller 599698 work.

The one I have looks like it has been butchered and Craddock,s are asking silly money.

Cheers, Ian.

I think it,s finished.possible build up with weld and machine back?

You can buy the collars for the other type, if it was turned to an interference fit , then fit. A replacement colllar , it looks like someone had that plan and then found out it’s all one piece

Agreed, the collars are cheap, I would buy a couple, take the lot to a local machine shop and see what they would chanrge to turn it down and fit the collar. Prices tell a story - £40 or so but out of stock, 350-440 in stock. looks like they were sold off too cheap now there's none left.

There's a raised face on the stub axle that usually sits flush with the back plate, but yours looks recessed Mecca.. ?

Pictures of my own stub axles (2A) from back when I replaced both the collars, and a shot showing the flush arrangement on a S3 (back plate bolts and locking tabs missing):

I think I'm just confused. Looks like S3 have another piece that bolts on top that my 2A doesn't.. which'd make yours right Mecca. Ignore me, most people do. :D

Makes sense, I can see how it might hold oil better than coming out straight on the bolt heads.

This guy's pics do appear to have a separate collar don't they?

I am not so concerned about the missing material that the inner bearing will butt up against it’s more about the oil seal not working.

I may run it and see what happens, check after a few miles and take a view?
Thanks for everyone’s help

I believe if you change the stub axle to an earlier type you have to change the outer half shaft.

Please correct me if i am wrong.
