check ujs then remove one prop at time and run in diff lock ,when props off make sure joints and slide arent siezed noise usually diff on over run ,if noise goes with front prop off front diff rear , prop off rear diff
check propellor shaft universal joints, remove one of the propellor shafts and test drive your vehicle while diff lock is engaged,if either shaft stops the noise occuring it will be the differential the prop was bolted to
I had a strange noise last year and it ended up being the dust cover on my read diff input. I just removed it because my 300 is a Chelsea tractor .
does it do it when stood with engine running
When I come of the gas and roll the Disco whilst still in gear there is a scraping noise coming from somewhere, can't figure where abouts. When I press the clutch pedal, so the car is basically freewheeling, the noise goes away :-S any ideas people?
Does the noise go away if you lightly touch the footbrake?
front tbox oil seal? check UJ's and output shaft for play.
you havent removed props one at a time and tried it in diff lock have you starting with front prop cos till you do cant get much further, most transferboxes or diffs leak somewhat,so doesnt necessarilly mean anything
