strange noise

just recently my truck seems to be running quite rough , and I’ve
noticed a noise to he front of the engine. it sounds like a ow bell
and its intermittent and sparce.i have done a complete tune-up with
new parts following. my HAYNES MANUAL TO THE LETTER.I’ve noticed that
when it runs rougher than usual it also smokes quite a bit...got any
ideas???
