Strange noise when under acceleration, diesel engine

Hi, I have a 2005 RR Vogue in very good condition both body and mechanically.
However, today the car has started to make a funny whining, whistling noise when under acceleration. Can I add I don't drive hard and gearbox up and down sweet with no loss of power.
I mentioned to my friend ad he suggested an air leak with one of the pipes for the turbo.
I am not very mechanically minded but sounds plausible to me. Any of you more technical guys out there, does this sound right.
Where do I start to check?

yep...

check intercooler pipes. they can split causing noises etc..

mine was actually lose on the jubilee clip onto the turbo housemoving, when revved up it made a "woosh" like a dump valve ! i couldnt find where the noise was coming from until finally it blew the pipe off completely causing lack of power, the car wouldnt go more than 30mph !

this is a common problem on the diesels too !

check your pipes !

By sounds of it this could be more likely, but as hippo says, check all your clips and pipes. If it is a turbo problem, don't drive it on until it fails completely, this can fill your engine block with bits of the turbo, and it really, really doesn't like that.

Hi guys, thanks for the reply.
Yes it was a wooshing noise the car was making. The car is back from the garage and all sorted. They mentioned to my wife it needed a new gaskit ( I work down south during the week) fitted and all working as it should do, driving fine now. Not sure what was worked on but going into the garage on sat to see what what issue was.

The next thing to do is to get the TV working, from what I understand it is analogue and needs changed to Digital, will look into it.

Glad to hear it's sorted.

For the TV, do a google search for digital tv module for the l322, if you've got the touch screen sat nav (which you should have if it's a 2005 model l322) you can just get a hold of the module to plug in in place of the old analogue module.
Can't remember the site I went on, but they get the modules from newer l322s every now and again and they're just plug and play units. Don't know what price they are, but should be less than 200 quid
