Getting really strange noise akin to spring type door stop being twanged when I am going up a steep incline/hill at slow speed. Any ideas? Sorry that is the best description of noise I can give.

Havent noticed any light come on and it has done it so many times (very steep out here in spin where we have moved to) that I would have noticed if they had. Not had DII for long so inexperienced of what is normal and not. sounds abnormal to me though.

Your description of the noise is spot on for the traction control kicking in and that is normal.
As I said when it comes on, an amber light should show on the left hand side of the binnacle, just above the temp gauge
If you pay my return flight, I could pop over and confirm. (Its baltic here this week!)

Will take it out tomorrow and check it out but fairly sure no lights unless its blown a bulb, i assume that it would show on ignition2 when it does checks though so can see that also if so?
Flights very cheap, when I can get a list of bits for you to check will take you up on that. sunny today but a little fresh!!

Sometimes the ABS control unit makes the noise, but not for long enough to bring the TC light on. My D2 usually does it when driving off a kerb under power - the wheel tries to spin very briefly.

Bang on the money there brother!! Couldn't see the light because of the position of the steering wheel!!!!!!
