Hi All,

Quick question....

Right update, i have amanged to change all brakes back and front, hopeing that i might have abit of brake rattle but sadly it dosnt appear to be the case as the noise is still there.... has any one got any other suggestions for what to check for. i have also checked all uj's and they appear to be fine.

One thing i must add is the fact that this noise started 50miles into a journey on the motorway and is now there almost constant.

Please help......

Kyle

I have the very same thing, I got some one to drive my 1997 300tdi past me a few times..

I've not check to see what it was but a few people have said to me it might be a stone trapped some where?

with mine i have noticed that the front break pads are worn in a strange way and that the pins and springs holding the pads in are useless as its just held in by the pin the sping is just f**ked...Im planning to go to JSF with in the next few days and get some new pads and pins and clips to see if it fixes but if some has any other ideas help would be much appreciated! :)

he means the disc guards i believe - behind the discs there are metal guards if they rot out then they become loose & rattle !

just wondering if the OP located the rattle, cos I'm getting the same kind of noise, but I believe it to be engine related as it happens when in neutral with foot on the clutch as well as on the move.
It seems very intermittent, happening when going over bumps, then nothing when going over the exact same bumps again.

Anyone?

+1 for disc guards had same noise coming from N/S rear took it off(well it practically fell off) aswell as the other 3 they were nearly as bad noise gone! Stops stones and mud getting jammed in there to if your off-roading too.
