Health and safety man was teaching us to follow the rules and talked about building sites. He said the number of "incidents" reduced suddenly when they stopped using the same key (bent nail) when they started putting different locks on. Reason being too many people without training or experience could use plant machinery as everyone had a key. Now the locks are different they don't. Not sure how true it is. Interesting theory.When i worked at Caterpillar, they installed the same lock/key set on every machine....
So that the owner / operater doesnt need to have lots of different keys to operate a variety of equipment.
