A local , hardworking guy, who had saved for a few years. Finally bought a Defender.
He spent money doing various mods and upgrades and was really pleased with his new truck.
Then the other day, he noticed a Defender sized space, outside his home when he got home.
He and his family posted on FB and other forums and by pure luck, his P&J was discovered.
It had been parked in a carpark, with new plates and his distinctive spare wheel cover missing. Obviously left, to see if it had a tracker, It didn't.

It's just lucky that someone had seen the FB post and made the phone call.
Be has it back and has hidden it in a garage.
These scumbags should have their hands cut off at the shoulders and tar and feathered

@Firebobby1 If he hasn't got already I recommend buying a Disklock and a pedal lock, the flip down one from X-Eng is good. I've both; won't stop a determined pro thief with an angle grinder but will deter most opportunists.
A tracker is also worth while.

I think he got one of the removable steering wheels.
That's the problem though, don't matter what you do, if someone is determined, they will get it.
I wonder if a fooking great spear, that shoots up through the seat would be illegal ?? Lol
 
Glad it was recovered safely. Shows the power of social media and benefits of circulating locally to see if it has a tracking device fitted. Definitely needs to keep it secure now as they might come back.
 
Not much will stop a determined thief unfortunately. If they can’t take the car, they’ll strip bits off it. My neighbour had the best idea with his. He fitted an alarm mine to the drivers door so when opened the thief quite possibly lost all hearing. Apparently they only tried it once lol
 
I have had two cars stolen, one recovered undamaged but my rebuilt and modified Jeep was never seen again. My brother had his sport bike stolen from the underground car park when he lived in an apartment. Got a few pieces back.
Thieves are everywhere.
 
My Ferrari (those were the days, when you could buy one for the price of a new Fiesta, l could never afford one now) got stolen from a garage forecourt while l was paying for fuel. l had bought it a week previously from a local dealer, and the thief had a key.

Sadly for the thief it wasn't his day. l had fitted an alarm and it went off after he'd driven around 100 metres down the road.
lt also cut the ignition and as he applied the brakes in shock, they were locked on.
The siren was a proper compressor driven ships foghorn, mounted in the space behind the centre console.

lt was so loud, that l couldn't return to the car until it reset (there was no remote)

The thief fell out of the car and ran away literally doubled up, holding his ears. Unfortunately l didn't catch him then, but the rozzers caught him later, and he tried to report me.
The car was inspected but the rozzers who came round looked at the car from the outside, smiled and said "we've had reports of an excessively loud alarm on this vehicle, but we can't see one, it must be very well hidden"

Apparently it took six months before his hearing recovered

Bloody good idea with the alarms in the car, although I'm surprised some scroat lawyer wouldn't try to take you to the cleaners, because his "client" has damaged their hearing.
Still think some sort of impalement device would be better..lol
 
Yeah there is a risk of that

lt was really funny at the time though, l wish there was some video of it.

Fortunately the alarm was auto set, l designed and installed it myself.

Unfortunately the brake valve (to lock the brakes on when they are applied) is not legal, and l can't find a supplier now. lt would be a great security device for a Defender
 
Yeah, sold it for £18,000 now they are £50,000

The car nearly bankrupted me though, everything was £1,000
The service cost £2,000 and had to be done every other year.
Except for tyres, a set of four cost £240! Back in 1989 they would have been sporty but twenty years later they looked like something you would put on a VW Golf diesel.
