if the batterys are low on power will it cause the solenoid for the winch just to click?

ive tried everythin else,3 solenoids all albright ones,2 different winches

then nothin atall connect to the solenoid and everytime it just clicks

the landy starts 1st time so theres enuff power for that
the little battery status thing on top of the batterys doesnt seem to be green

so will batterys that are low on power cause theese symptoms

im seriously fooked off with it now ive spent another 3 hrs on it tonite with no joy..

alternatively are there any auto electricians local that might have a look for me?

its holding me up now gettting things put back together on the landy

is it worth me buying a battery charger and giving that a go
i really dont know what else to try:blabla:

Im certainly no electrian but does make the same 'clicking' from the starter when the batt is flat.

So maybe thats a reasonable asumption with the winch batt.

Could it be poss that somewhere along the leads/cables to the winch there is a resistance in amps? Thus not giving enough power required?

I wired up my Albrite to me fancy bolloxs winch isolator and found that it only 'clicked' when the selonoid energised (Which takes very little power to do) Could there be a fault in the wander lead (Broken wire)

theres no wander lead.i have a switch hardwired on the front wing and also in the cab,if there was a break in the cable on the switches would the solenoid still click when ya press the buttons?

Possibly not, as the clicking noise is the electro-magnet making the connection.

Have you traced the wires along to the selonoid? Are they still in tact (not fused together) As you said it worked at first then stopped and just clicked.

My sparky mate help me wire mine up (To dash for winch in/out) also kept the wonder lead feature, he was pretty adement that if i was to catch the two swithes at the same time (Both winch in and out) It would instantly burn somet out!

Also When we re-wired the actual winch box back in we accidently wired up the wires the wrong way round (Luckily i had taken a pic on me fone 'just in case') Anyway when wired up the wrong way it gave the same symptoms you have, just clicked!

where ya at?

the landys nr downton bout 5 miles outside salisbury at the mo..
140 round trip:D to burnham on sea.

My advice is try jump leads across to winch battery if it runs your winch battery toasted. look round for doggy connections too.

the new solenoid came with wiring diagram so thats pretty explanitary

then theres just an earth and 2 lives for the switches in/out.

im just totally fooked off with this as i cant get the front back together untill winch is working, just dunno what to try next

last nite i had the landy runnin so split charge was working and charging aux winch battery i then connected another live to this battery from my vw van which was runnin aswell, same thing solenoids clicked,

it has been suggested on another forum that even if the battery was only about half charged it would still send enough power to turn the winch, dunno if thats true or not,but the landy starts fine

jump lead to winch body from good earth or direct from battery.
will test bad earth.
jump lead can be used to supply temp + for testing and work along bypassing each stage.

Work through it and your find the fault or find the winch has a fault
