problem with stereo fuses blowing constantly now. It's fuses 11 that keeps popping as soon as you put it in. It's beginning to do my head in.
At the moment I've got the steering wheel off and wiring for steering wheel controls disconnected. The stereo is out and disconnected. But the fuses still pops. What else can it be there's got to be a fault somewhere that's shorting but where else do I look???? We've had it 2yrs and not had a problem with stereo before. Anybody before I get the big hammer out.........

I've tried putting a fuses in when everything is disconnected stereo, steering wheel controls and even clock but it pops fuses with nothing connected. Is there anything else that's on that fuse because everything seems to work. I've checked wiring best I can and can not see a break or damage and plugs seen yo be good.

Does fuse 11 feed anything else? If not and the stereo is unplugged, then there is likely to be a short, maybe the loom has rubbed through on the body somewhere.

Things that still work with fuse 11 blown
Cig lighter
Rear power socket
Interior lights
Heater
Central locking
Everything other than stereo and can not change time on clock(clock works it's just wrong time) Which means there is a switched power supply to clock.

According to the manual F11 is for "In car entertainment" only. But that would probably include extras that may not be fitted like the under seat cd changer or the boot fitted sub. Check there for chaffed cables (under seat may be favourite if it's become caught in a seat rail).

Multi changer is on fuse 9. That cycles ok if you take out fuse 9 and put it back in. That fuse is fine!!!

Tried a bigger fuse 30 amp instantly popped. Not tried multi meter yet as I can't find it lol

30 amp popping instantly is definitely a short... might be a swine to find. Pull the stereo and check in the recess - see if any of the cables have caught on anything!

Had it back in bits again today and tracked the fault down to wiring behind stereo/heater area. Not found the wiring at fault but had a route around and can put fuse in without it popping it but as soon as you move wiring about it pops the fuse. I can connect it all together listen to stereo but as soon as you move the wires about it pops fuse. So it's now centre console out tomorrow and try and find the faulty wire.

Not sure if I've fixed it completely but it's working. Having had another digging about behind the dash these a wire that's been joined in past (not by me) that's been taped up. The joint was good but taping was not good. Can not see if or where it was shorting out but it's working and not popping the fuse now. So fingers crossed it's a cheap fix just time consuming.
On a plus not it all went to back together with not broken clips and no screws left over

That Did not last long lol
The centre console is back out and I can not see anything that's shorting it out. It's got to be something small a wire rubbed on something somewhere but now it's going to be a very slow process.........

Check the plug itself... Make sure the end isn't frayed!

Well it's a broken wire. Not sure where I've cut the wire below the join to see it it still blows so it between the fuse box and the stereos about 3 foot of cable so I'm going to cut the cable as it comes out the fuse board and solder a new length of cable in. Looking at the wiring diagram the only other thing that picks up power from this is the clock so hopefully I'll just bypass the fault.???
