Hi Landy Folks!
I was helping a friend fit a replacement stereo to his '96 TDI re-import (Japan) and we came across a bunch of things we werent expecting!
It would be great if someone could link me to a wiring diagram for the 96 Disco so we can have a look, other than that specific issues are as follows:
1. Dual co-ax Arial inputs, weve wired one (Main) and it seems ok, whats the sub input for, do we need it?
2. Perhaps its a fault, but all of the 4 door speakers operate without having the - connected at the stereo end i.e. coloured + wires only. This did not make much sense to me unless theres a short. Obviously if the - was removed at the speaker end it stopped working.
3. With the above the stereo sounds fine (new JVC etc) on both CD and Radio, but when the vehicle was started there was an intolerable interference (rather like a poorly suppressed AM unit) on both radio and CD. Before I start thinking about fitting aftermarket chokes etc, Id rather ensure the existing wiring was correct.
4. This one will probably be answered if I can look at a wiring diagram, but Id like to wire in the speaker in the back / boot door. It appears to be a powered subwoofer, am I right?
Your help would be most appreciated, thank you in advance for your time.
Happy Motoring, Russ.
