hello again .
another question for the smart ones .
when i reverse my td4 03 it feels sluggish like it wont free wheel , and when i turn the wheels again while moving backward it feels like its dragging the wheels . dont know if any of this is normal as only had 3 week . i have looked on the search but maybe not wording it right . many thanks john
 
Sounds Like A VCU failing symptom mate,,
Just wait for confirmation, but I think this is one of the signs..
 
That's what it sounds like to me too. Have a look in the how to section, there should be a thread on how to check it.
 
:5biagree: Have a look at the picture below. The VCU is the big black thing to the right of the picture attached to the prop shaft.

Just wait for confirmation, but I think this is one of the signs..

They all drag a bit - dont they? My VCU is newish - tho been up the shed for months. Now refitted, I regards some tightness as perfectly normal. When the old one was fooked, it was awful to drive and they get very hot.

Blimey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never heard of anything like that before. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
 
viscous coupling unit. I've never changed 1 myself but it doesn't look to bad to do. You'll be looking at around £250 for a recon unit from bell engineering I think.
