Hi guys, ive had this problem and others for a while now, it started after my business partner took the car home, next day all the usual lights were on, HDC, ABS and air suspension etc, these went out on their own but it had a problem whereby when started and stationary the steering was its usual VERY power assisted, as soon as the car reached around 3mph it went into like a motorway hardness, I actually dont mind this too much but its annoying that I know something is incorrect. After a few weeks the original softness to the steering no longer occured and it was always the stiffer type, I had a BDC from another car so tried that, low and behold correct steering again and not going hard so we bought a new BDC had it coded to the car and all was fine till after a few months I started it and felt it jolt into heavy mode again.
Recently it started putting all the lights on again but had the steering angle sensor reset and it seems ok, checked all the systems with an updated snap on Verdict and all the ABS sensors are working and communicating so its not a speed sensor issue. Do any of you guys have any ideas re the steering problem, im thinking for £75 I can change the transducer in the rack, does this make sense or should I look elsewhere, we have had errors where it says can bus error and after a burst hose we changed the plug to the abs ecu under the bonnet with the RR repair part.
Any suggestions most welcome vehicle is a 2002 4.4 Vogue.
