Hello all.

I've searched through loads of old threads but can't quite find a solution to this one..

I have a 2001 TD5 Defender 110 and only just received it. The dealer handed it over, explaining the key fob is NOT for unlocking doors (they are all manual) but instead for turning off the immobiliser alarm should it go off. Normally, I get in after a manual door unlock, turn the key, wait a few secs then hold it on and the engine fires up. Not had to use the fob.

Today I get in and my little daughter has played and engaged the steering lock. I break out of the lock with key and a few turns, see the red light start flashing. When I turn the key the alarm blares out and I need to turn it back off then press the left hand fob button to make the alarm stop.

Problem is, I can't seem to work out how to start the Landy now - if I turn the key it sets the alarm off as soon as I'm preparing to turn on the engine. It won't stop unless I turn it off and then press the fob button.

Please help a n00b!

Thank you.

Liam

Press the left button on the fob that turns the immo off, before you try and start it it

If the steering wheel is locked in position you have to wiggle the key while turning the wheel to disengage
