Greetings,

I have read in to it adjusting the steering box, and think it should be fairly straightforward, but there's a couple of things I could do with clarifying. In this excerpt from a workshop manual I located elsewhere on the forum (I presume newer than the two workshop manuals I have):

It says about releasing the drag link from the steering box. Is this really necessary, and is it just to reduce the resistance so you don't have to move the whole steering rig whilst adjusting?

Also, do you need a new locknut after adjusting, or am I mixing lock nuts up with locking nuts?

Cheers for any tips :)

Yer don't need to remove the drag link.

I'm not sure on differences between lock and locking nuts. I think locking nuts have the plastic in them and lock nuts have the crown in them secured by a split pin.

If it's the nut with the nyloc in then you should always replace these new ones, they are designed for one use only.

I did mine today, and yes, it's sorted :) Very slight play in my steering column UJs, but it's magnitudes better than it was :)
