Hello, Not sure if this is allowed and apologies if it's not.

But does anyone have one of these they would sell me. I'm based in Ely Cambs.
or even borrow I guess. Just don't want to spend £50 just for one use.
Many Thanks.
Chris

How do you know it is only going to be for one use?:D

I think you can get them for less than 50 quid now, try looking around on ebay etc.

sorry, but then again I see you're an activist so should have expected it.;)
I am pretty active for my age. :)
I might lend you mine, it should be in my unit in March.
But it isn't. I think I must have lent it to someone else, but I can't remember who.
The one I have is from VL Churchill, who used to make all the special tools for Land Rover.
But I think there are lots of cheap pattern ones around now, and frankly it isn't going to cost a lot more than two lots of fuel and time to pick one up if you borrow it.
It is highly likely you will need it again in any case.

Thanks. Looking on fleabay there's some for as little £27, But worried about quality. Anyone bought one of these cheaper ones, if so any good?

I did and it started to bend... Its not the cheapest but the hooks in the above picture started to slip off and the metal bent outwards It totally did the job but I wouldn't think you would get more than 5 or so goes at it.

The black one posted looks invincible tbh.

that's what I was afraid of. Maybe I'll just have to bit the bullet and buy a decent one.
If you buy it from a reputable retailer or with paypal protection, use it for the job its intended for and if you have issues just get your money back. I would do that.

Main thing is to soften it up with a club hammer a bit first. Don't hit the lugs where the puller engages. Do hit it from as many angles as you can, and give it a few sprays of penetrating fluid, then smack it a few more times with the hammer.
Then try the puller. To be honest, for occasional use, I think the cheap pullers would be OK, but it is the hammering that really loosens the arm up first.

I bought a cheap one off ebay and it turned up marked Laser Tools and seems good quality. After all that I didn't need it as I was able to shim the steering box in-situe.
