Hi,
I purchased a new uprated steering damper last week which tonight i tryed to fit however have found that it does not match my old damper.

The damper currently fitted has two "threaded bolt" style fixings either end, the new damper has an "eye" type fixing one end and threaded bolt type fixing at the other,

Im assuming i have been sent the incorrect part or is there something which i need to modify?
The part i ordered was listed as fitment for a defender

Thought id ask the quick question before contacting them.

Thanks,
Matt

It's the correct part. It sounds luke your landy has been altered.

Is the steering damper in front of or behind the front axle?

It should be in front but from what yer saying it sounds like it's behind.

Seems although somone has fitted a disco or RR front axle to your mota. As Ratty says is it in front or behind the front axle? this needs answering lol

Its behind the axle so am guessing it has been altered?
The person i brought the defender from said it has a range rover chassis so guess it would make sense to be range rover axles?

I am also looking at buying a steering guard, would i need to buy a range rover guard as its a range rover chassis?

Cheers

If it's a rangie chassis you will need a rangie/disco damper. You will also need a rangie/disco steering guard too.

In future if you need parts I would suggest buying em for a rangie unless they are for above the chassis level.
