I have just got my new chassis from richards. Ordered it with a welded on steering damper mount as was fitted on the original chassis and as given as an option on the order form.
They say that a welded on mount was not an option on a 82 series 3, personally I think they just screwed up as it was on the order form, invoice and the website all the way through "+welded steering damper mount"
Does anyone else have a 109 that has a welded on damper mount from new or are they all bolted on ones?

My 84 swb has the bolted on bracket as below, looking at the order standard chassis option is no mount but can add the £33.60 to have a bolted on bracket fitted
A welded bracket option does not show as an option , unless you have agreed a special with them
So have you paid extra over for the bracket and asked for welded and they agreed
If you have paid extra , Been documented and it’s not fitted then sounds like their fault and you would have a case for at least some compensation

My original is welded on. When I ordered the chassis there was three option available. None, bolted and welded. The order and the invoice show welded.
They have now said that they do not do a welded version but the website options and my invoice say they do and they simply didn't build it to the ordered spec.
The option for a welded one now seems to have been removed from the website, obviously for the 12 weeks from ordered till delivery they did not check the spec, as they tell you to and I did!

For my chassis, I only recall the bolt-on option for it. They actually forgot to drop it off with the chassis, but a phone call to them sorted that out and it arrived in the post a couple of days later.

I recall it wasn't the most simple thing to fit (required some force to get all 4 bolts in), but I can't see any reason why the bolt-on option would be less adequate. I know it must be frustrating not to have got quite what you ordered, but it's probably the one thing that won't actually make a lot of difference in how it will turn out.

After all the warnings about checking your order and mistakes being your fault if you did not notify its a bit annoying to find a mistake that they made, despite the spec clearly starting welded bracket and not so much as a "my bad, sorry" from them.
Th order details say
"Please see attached the confirmation of your order from Richards Chassis.
It is your responsibility to check that all details are correct. "
and on the order the spec is detailed as
"New replacement 109" s3 6cyl chassis, truck body, RHD, standard RXM, battery shelf +weld on SD mnt,"
It isn't a disaster, just annoying.
