Gentlepersons,
A weep became seepage, which in turn became... I think you may be familiar with the tale. Bizarrely the biggest problem I seem to have is identifying which box to replace it with...
Apparently the later D2 needed a different drop-arm which seems to complicate matters.
Local garages are very twitchy about recon boxes - their suppliers won't source them, which means that either I supply and they fit; or I fork out about £700 on a OEM part.
Can anyone recommend a good supplier?
I was going to go for a Bearmach from paddocks, but betweem them sending me the link on a Fri and me trying to buy on the Mon, the price went up about £120!

Re use your drop arm.

I replaced my SB a few weekends back, was a few hours work.

I think the differences are all to do with internal changes, I was lucky and brought a re con box for £170 outright (no exchange to worry about)

Go on eBay and there are a few companies that will point you in the right direction of what you need.

Thanks for the prompt response - I had been looking at a WPS box as they come with a 2 year warranty and have the drop arm, so I may just give them a run!
I was looking at them, but decided I wanted to option to keep my steering box to refurb myself and then one came up to buy outright, plus I couldn’t be bothered with the faf of having to sort out return postage for the old box to go back.
Make sure you get 4 new oring a for the power steering pipes.

Even better if it already has a drop arm fitted as you won’t have to bust a ball to torque it up to 240NM

That's it settled then, I've ordered my WPS box and await with bated breath!
It turns out that their Ebay site and home webpage aren't linked, so one says out of stock, whilst Ebay still had then on offer...
A quick phone call to a very pleasant & helpful lady swiftly sorted things.

So, Thank you one & all for your recommendations, I'm sure we'll all speak again!

at that price they just change the seals on a good box, which you could do yourself

I could, however the box I brought off was so knackered I could hardly tell the drop arm from the steering box. I think it had been leaking for a very long time given it’s condition so don’t know if it ever went dry (I was topping up with 100ml a week!) for the warranty I was happy to fork out a little extra for this item. Nothing worse than thinking you have fixed something to find out it isn’t so after hours of re assembly

I'm on my 4th box due to leaks from the output seal. 2 recon boxes and last one I took a risk on a 2nd hand one off ebay. All ended up leaking. I am about to refit my last box, the one before the ebay one, which is in good condition with bench fitted new seal kit. I also got the fitting sequence from Adwest to make sure they are in the correct way. When they sent me diagrams, I was surprised to see there are 2 different versions of seals for Disco PAS boxes.

Here they are. Different dirt seal on the 2004
