Steering box and bent axle vows 2001 TD5

Are you sure the part numbers STC 2847 and STC 3295 are valid for Left hand drive TD5 Defenders? I phoned a local LR parts dealer and he has both of them in stock which he shouldn't because he only deals in 200/300 TDI right hand drive vehicles parts???

You said TD5s and 300 TDIs have different boxes.

discovery td5 is different ,google stc2845 its lhd adwest 300 tdi box ,qaf000150 is later box ,im sure unless yours has non std box fitted drop arms are different for rhd and lhd but ball joints and seal kits are the same

I got the steering box complete seal kit replaced on my TD5.

The number you gave me was correct and my LHD defender has a similar steering box as a RHD 300 TDI Defender. The drop arm had a bad ball joint and was scratched in places so I thought I would replace it but LHD and RHD vehicles have different arms although the difference in reality was negligible. Since microcat didn't approve RHD drop arm on my VIN so I decided not to install it and got a new ball joint kit instead.
