I've got the same press.
Be worth drilling a couple of holes in the bottom plate of the jack & the plate it sits on & putting a couple of bolts in.
Keeps the jack central & stops any risk of slipping.
 
Never had a problem removing the drop arm from any of my LRs over the years.
Big hammer or Big hammer and heat; job done!
Copper slip on splines helps for future.
