STC53047 Rear Window Guard Fitting Kit

Hi,

Fitted an STC53047 Rear window guard to my freelander Mk3 2006 at the weekend. Went ok but managed to strip the thread from the middle of one of the door mounts.

Does anyone have a spare bracket? / know if I can buy just the fitting kit / know how I could fix it as the bolt virtually now pushes through the hole its supposed to thread onto.

You could try tapping the thread out, and fit a slightly larger dia bolt ?

Thanks - found some stuff called Loctite Thread Repair glue stuff which i'm gonna try first - apparently you just the release stuff on the bolt, mix the other two together and paint them on the nut side, then screw the bolt in and leave for two hours.

The problem with making the thread bigger and using another nut is that they wont be plastic ended and will look odd in the car (fussy i know but dont want my dog catching himself on it.

Will let you know how I get on.

Tis ok, know what you mean about being fussy . . . I always repair everything as soon as it's broke (which is often on a Landy)

Had a bit of luck last night - one of my friends works closely with an engineering department - he is going to get it fixed for me today
