Im sure everyones sick to death of this one but Im going to try because I really need a few pointers. My Land rover is a series 3 petrol with series 2A Engine in it. Its been converted to negative earth with an Alternator instead of a Dynamo.
I left her un run for a few weeks as I put a new clutch in her amongst other things. When I went to start her I got that typical "CLICK" so bought my second new Solenoid and fitted it. Shes now turning over but not starting.
Just for the record I bought a new battery and connectors, new Solenoid as stated, cleaned all earth leads and put on a number of new terminals, so everything clean and nice. Also before I had her off the road I put in a new Coil new distributor cap and leads and new spark plugs.
Ive carried out a few tests..... First I checked fuel was getting up from the pump. YES.
Next I took a spark plug out rested it on the block and turned the engine over. Result No spark! So I checked all leads were firm and they were, still no spark. Now, my landrover has electronic ignition distributor, not a points type one, and it has 2 wires coming from it to the coil, one black and one red, The other wire from the coil is the white one to the ignition switch. Im not totally 100% sure if these have been put back on the right terminals so if anyone could confirm which goes where on the terminals of the coil ide appreciate it. Maybe a picture would be easiest? My only other thought that would cause no spark at the plug would be maybe dampness or a crack in the distributor but neither seems evident although maybe its not so easy to spot. Anymore ideas certainly welcome as I thought I had covered most things but being a novice maybe not?
Thanks everyone for all your help on here dont know what ide do without ya!
PS Sorry for the "essay" above! ![Big Grin :D :D](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
