hiya guys,

was wondering if you may be able to help me please.

one damp morning i started the freelander with no problems, i just turned it round in the drive to put some bits in the back then switched it off.

about 10 mins later i tried to start the car to no avail, had to wait about 10 minutes then finally started, i know it could be a lot of things but is there anything they suffer from with starting problems please.

thanks as always

also wished to say a huge thanks for making me feel so welcome here

I think its a common problem with modern electronic controlled engine management systems. The XT does the same and I was told that it is the starting programme. In cold start mode, the ecu pours excess fuel into the engine like a choke. If you onlyvdrive it a very short distance, then turn the engine off, yu flood the engine and its a bugger to start, coz next time it tries pouring more fuel in. I have learnt that the easiest cure is never drive it 50 feet or so. If you need to start it, always drive it around the block, or at least 3-400 yards. Never any problem if I do that.

sorry, what an idiot i am.

Would help if i said what engine i had

its a TD4 engine with an automatic box

i do apologise
