Starting off, a few silly questions

By look of it, it seems that a previous owner had lost the keys/fob and the key i have is a non langy one. It looks like a replacement fob may do the trick, the only thing it that i have read that the alarm/locking system has been left in the armed stage or bypassed so that it is disabled. Does anyone know of somewhere in se london (im in br1) where i can get it looked at and sorted if i get a replacement.

Thanks for all the advice, and im finally sorting the silly bits out.

the alarm can't be armed or it would sound when you get in the car, locking & unlocking the car with the key just opens the doors and ignores the alarm immobiliser.

Does your central locking work?

if it doesn't there's no point getting a new fob till you fix it.

That is how all this came about due to the central locking not working, and someone mentioned that if a previous owner has lost the fob (i only have a non landy key), removing or by passing the alarm/immobiliser may disable the central locking but allow the car to start. I have checked fuses and all other ideas, but welcome any more.

So are saying you also can not set the alarm when you lock the door. You do have the alarm/central locking ECU still fitted to your disco don't you.

I think that is the problem, i have had a look and it seems to be missing which is why i am trying to find somewhere to get it checked and if need be replaced
