Hi there, i have just bought a disco 300 tdi 1994 m reg. All seems good atm but got a few silly bits to look out and would like some help where to start:
1. My heater lights are not working, how do i get to the bulbs?
2. My front fog lights are not working, is there a obvious thing to check?
3. Talking of obvious things i only have 1 speaker working, any ideas before i start the wire chasing?
4. The car does not have central locking, is there any way of converting it?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, but im only just learning (thats my excuse and im sticking to it!!!!)

:D:D:D

1. Pull the round dials knobs etc off remove the plate & remove screws and there is the bulb.
2. Bulbs and and if standard lamps voltage at wiring connection behind each headlamp.
3. Head unit.
4. Yes. Kits are available

And get your self a Haynes manual and...... :welcome2: to the Forum.

New head unit, then the speaker wiring ISO plug may not be connected fully.
I recon most if not all central locking sevos (actuators) are the same, don't really understand "will not be strong enough".
Why not find out what the problem is with you existing locking system.

Many thanks for all the help, the jobs are done except for the locking. All the locks work it just dont seem to have central locking on it, but i have only had the disco for a couple of days and today was the first chance i have had to look at anything. Is there any way of finding out if it did come with central locking as in the hand book it does say if installed

It did come with central locking originally and being a '94 it also came with a remote key fob. Check the fuses then check the c' locking motor, if the motor's shagged I've got a couple spare ;) and then if you want a remote fob check out these guys Remote Key Fob Replacement I got a fob off them a couple of months back and it works great.

BTW :welcome:

when you open drivers door with the key,if the other doors unlock at the same time, then you do have central locking...

DAZ
Daz I had a butch at Peters Disco, it appears not to have central locking. Correct me if I'm wrong but was they not all fitted with C/L ?
Not sure what variation Peters is but it has air con but no twin sun roofs.:behindsofa::welcome::confused:

depends on factory spec, but i would have thought land rover included c/l to all disco models by 1994...

DAZ
Thats what I thought Daz, a 1994 should have factory fitted C/L, hmmm???
I have a word with peter to see if he can do any further investigation.
I do recall his key to unlock is a standard key and not a fob with the unlock & lock buttons.:confused:

They all have central locking even the G reg ones. If it's not working probably the master unit has gone. The 200's can be locked or unlocked with just the key without setting off the alarm. 300's have to be opened with the fob or the alarm goes off.

but on a 300 if you remove the central locking fuse so that you can only open the doors with the key the alarm won't arm. which is what folks seem to do if they lose the fob.

this is how mine was when I bought it, I reckon his is the same.

While playing with it yesterday i checked the fuses and the CL fuse was fine. I will go through them again in case it is another one. All the doors lock/unlock on there own with no problem, its just gettin it all to work together. If there are any other ideas please feel free

Have tried looking it from the passanger side front lock. Mine will lock on either front door lock with the key or with the fob. Only mine if i lock it with the fob it sets the alarm off lol

Yeah, have tried via the passenger side and only does that door. Only have a key for it, no fob. May try as a previous idea and get a fob to see if that works

^^^^^^^^^^^Agree with that.

Do what Rabbiter says. If there is an actuator then you have central locking. The fob you should have is a single button one, thre are two different ones:-418mhz and 433mhz follow the link to remotekey.co.uk it shows where the alarm/cl ecu is to check the frequency.

And remember it's a Land Rover, things aren't supposed to work, that's the fun(!!??!!) of owning one:bounce:
