Hiya Guys

I am having intermittent starting problems with my 2001 V6 Freelander Auto and every time it goes to a garage they say they have found the fault and repair but I still keep getting them and its becoming more frequent but still random.

It is intermittently not starting, when you turn the key it just clicks (like if it was still immobilised) with no turn over.

I have taken to flicking the key rapidly in the barrel on and off and it eventually turns over. (Sometimes 30 secs sometimes 10 mins)

I have had a new wiring loom
2 new batteries
Can sensor changed
And starter motor checked.

I have heard it might be something to do with the barrel or the key (which I think might be electronic) but don’t want to get this checked out because they will only replace and I’d probably still have the problem.

Has anyone else had anything similar to this and if so, please help!

The alarm is also playing up too, randomly keeps going off, so I have taken to locking it with the key. Is it possible to disable the alarm but still use the fob for the central locking?

Cheers peeps
:(

Probably obvious...Have you checked your main battery leads/connections...drop in current could be setting alarm off and also cause non starting if leads are loose???

Little black connector on top of starter is also prone to corrosion...remove, clean or replace

Thanks for that, I'll give it a try and let you know.
