standard height suspension replacement - help/ideas

Just been out today on some twist cou try roads, and I pressed with the handling as it doesn't seem to wallow anymore and sits nicely through the corners etc.

All in all really happy with my end result...:D
 
Can't comment on britpart springs but the bearmach ones were nice and it certainly drives.and looks well, so you will at least br 50% ok LOL

With that sort of lift, getting on to 2 inches so brake lines, prop etc might need to be changed etc that's why only went up to an inch as couldn't be bothered with all the extra work
 
Hmmm well I haven't ordered yet so might just get 30mm's all round :) so I don't need to worry about anything, plus I've got 75 wall tyres like what you were wanting to upgrade to so mine will look a bit more filled out

The 40mm's work out at 1.57" so yeah I think 1.18" 30mm's might be better ;)
 
That was why I was looking for standards to save all the extra work, but then the guy at rimmer bros mentioned the 20 and 30 mm ones which were ideal for me, so might be work well for you and esp then I can see what 75's look like ;)
 
I'm tempted to do the same as you but I'll most probably regret not buying the +30mm rears, plus it'll save me from having to camel cut the rear for a bit longer :p might mean I can move up to 85's next time too :eek: too many choices!
 
Do you have a lift already, as when I fitted my 265/70's I had to do the cuts...maybe cos my suspension was already saggy....but I was happy the off roading I have done, now knowing with saggy springs, so reckon it will certainly do me now, your call but mine is more on road than off, although I DO go off road, had to find a decent compromise as have been told 2" and above and you loose the ride quality, or.it certainly starts to go wallowy, which ain't what I was after. Decisions decisions my friend :p as mine have been made :D
 
And you never got rubbing?? I never got put the garage where they fitted without rubbing on front bumper...made it home then out came the angle grinder.

Yeah the fronts were 30mm and rears 20mm and I thought it weird, but it sits.nice.and level so guess they know what they are doing at bearmach
 
I get a tiny bit of rubbing when I'm fully articulated but running on roads and speed bumps at pace its usually alright :p does look good with the 20's on the rear and mine should fill the arches a bit more although I'm tempted to go back to all terrains and swap from these MT's if I find a cheap set just due to doing more road miles atm
 
Must say I have always ran bfg at's on my 4*4's and they never fail me. Even when I was in major sloppy mud at Salisbury plains I managed to get out, might not have been as quick as the lads with muds on, but like I say before I have tried to get the best compromise...and these certainly fit the bill for me
 
I probably should move back to them as I did enjoy running them although my MPG hasn't suffered and I prefer the look of the Maxxis :)

Might see about some Maxxis AT's as the BFG's new pattern didn't appeal to me when I looked at renewing
 
I'm looking forward to getting these now :D should look good with my MT's, just give it a slightly more aggressive stance to match that lethal front end haha

Did you need the spring compressor in the end as my plan is to drive up onto a ramp so its articulated fully then take it off, or would that not work ?
 
Yeah, needed the compressor, reckon it would be quite a job without them, as never needed it.really for existing springs but for the new ones. Rears were ok without them tho
 
Yeah, running standard shocks. I was gonna go to a garage but to be honest glad I never as not a bad job, and saved me a fair few pennies :D
 
Hmmm I might see about making some spring compressors or borrowing a set, if not I can jack it up as high as possible with the new bumper :eek: and then try force the springs in with a crowbar and rubber hammer
 
Rears were ok that way but the fronts I needed a fair bit of compression on them to slide them in, esp with still having the shock connected by the top bolt, so going that way, be careful on your brake lines etc

put your vehicle jack between chassis and axle and force axle down ,theres enough on brake flexi to get spring in and out with a lever
