Hi all back again,
I've just taken the beast for its MOT and it failed on the airbag light, the garage cannot access the diagnostics with there puny equipment. However i was told by the previous owner it was the front drivers side sensor. Does anyone know where to get a replacement? Links always appreciated :)

I have a 2002 P38 4.6 petrol

you need diagnostics to find the fault otherwise you are working in the dark.I am in Radcliffe and have a Nanocom but its for a diesel, and I dont know if it will read your vehicle. someone on here will know,

I tried the under seat connections.
When you disconnect and really connect the front driver sensor the warning light goes off for a bit then comes back on

That is because you have disconnected it then when reconnected the SRS does a self check and throws the fault. Bet it is not the plug under the seat. Diag required. DO NOT play with SRS whilst ignition is switched on unless you want a face full of air bag. For working on SRS you need to disconnect the battery and wait twenty minutes to be safe. You have been warned.

Hey thanks for the offer. the diagnosis sounds great. if you want to pm me we can arrange a meet. and am sure I can get you a bottle of your favourite poison for your trouble.

If Tarphenry's nanocom doesn't work, I have nanocom for petrol thor variant so mine should work. I'm pretty snowed under until Christmas though so if Tarphenry can help you out quickly then great.
If not, let me know and I can see when I'm in the country.

Hi, Nanocom shows n/s airbag open circuit permanent, so presume a broken wire or faulty connection on passenger side.

That is opposite to what he was told then, rotary coupler is ok. There is a plug to connect N/S bag under top of dash behind glove box. Glove box will have to be dropped down to get at it.

Quick update. but first a massive thanks to mick for taking time to help me out.

I jiggled the connector under the passenger seat and all is good. 1 problem solved.

Thanks to everyone for your help especially mick.

Every time I move my passenger seat back, the airbag warning comes on on the next start up. A wiggle of the plugs fix it until the next movement o_O

Am planning a serious battery disconnection and all plugs sprayed with switch cleaner. Haven't had a warning for a couple of months, but I expect one

Gave up with under seat connectors on mine couple years ago and got the soldering iron out not had a problem since and I`ll cross the bridge of taking the seat out when I get to it.
