HI all, i am after some advice i have a P38 v8 4.6 i can't drive it at the mo as it squeaks like a bitch! its coming from one of the pully's on the aux belt i squrted some wd40 on the back of the power streering pully and the squeek went away for about 30 seconds so i change the power streering pump for a second hand one and while i was there i change the water pump for a new one, aux belt and the belt tensioner too.
and guss what it still squeaks!!!!! so once again i squrted some wd40 on the back for the power streering pump and it went awat again for 30 seconds. PLEASE HELP :confused::confused:

....sounds to me like its (the wd40) tracking down to somewhere else.

Start somewhere else and see if you can stop it squeaking...its only trial and error....you'll find it, i'm sure.

Nick.

HI nick do you have a 4.6 v8 if you do dose your aircon pump look out of alinement??? mins looks like its about 5mm of set?

Hi.....which way do you think it's out? Are there any tell tale signs on the side of the belt (Chaffing etc)?

Does the auxillary mount look like it's got any cracks in it and are the bolts tight.

I have a 4.0 Discovery 2....used to have a 4.0 38......i would take the fan and belt off and check each pully and belt driven device for wear (Bearings) and to cehck its firmly seated.......let us know how you get on....

Nick.

HI nick, if looking from the right hand side of the engine bay accross to the battery, all my pulleys are in line apart from my air con pump pully its 5mm over to the right?

..i still would heve the belt off, have feel of the bearings, as when not engeged it should be really easy to turn and squeak free. Check that it is secure in its mount and that that has not moved...
