Good Morning - I need to find some time to get under the car this week but I though I would look for some pointers from the knowledge of users here.

I basically have a metallic squeak when accelerating...it sounds a bit like when the brakes are getting old....but a month or so back I replaced the front pads, disks and calipers. Had an mot a week ago and the rears are fine.
It seems to be coming from the front area but it is hard to tell 100%
The squeak is only there when accelerating and goes away as soon as I come of the gas, also using the brakes makes no difference to the noise being there or not. It also seems to match road speed not engine speed.

A clip link is below and any pointers where to look first would be great....starts at around 10sec

Cheers

Morning,

First place I would start is by taking the aux belt off and turn each of the components inc tensioner by hand and see if anything sounds odd.
Make sure the crank / damper is not loose / worn.

Cheers

It all feels fine - and also wouldn't the squeak be more in tune with engine speed if it was an engine component....or am I being too simplistic in my view ?

robhew - you were right, got underneath and the front part of the front prop was moving abit - thankfully this is a job I have been planning for a while, so I had all the bits in the garage. Started last night and just finished. The centre bearing was a right cow to get out...in the end I had to grind a slot in the ball so I could get that out and then dig out the casing which took ages.

All done now though just need to take her for a drive

cheers

The front part of the prop UJ was knackered? It's usually the rear of the front prop (The UJ's the double cardan end) that give up.
