Hi Folks,

I am hoping that somebody can offer some advice or even just some witty wise-cracks. I have recently (yesterday) bought a 1992 D130 Crew Cab. I drove it from Swansea to the City of London: EC1 with no issues - in fact I was very pleased with the ride quality and performance!

For those of you wondering why would someone want a D130 in the shadow of St Paul's Cathedral - I am planning a trip to Angola overland and I thought it was also time to get some respekt! from cabbies.

A 'squeak squeak squeak' noise has now developed and I am wondering if I should be overly worried. The squeak only happens when pulling away from standing and is most noticeable at low revs in low gear. if I accelerate hard the squeak is less noticeable. If I put my foot on the clutch the squeak stops even when rolling.

I also plan to prep the Defender for an overland jaunt - any words of wisdom: advice or cautions.

Any help or verbal abuse greatly received.

hi and welcome.
maybe a clutch release bearing on its way out?

ps. very nice landy mate.

Hi Ormus, Thanks for that I will look in to what needs to be done to sort that out. Amazon.com for a Haynes manual! I am going to have to get more Landy Savvy if I am to make it to Angola.

I am very pleased iwht the D130 - it has been well looked after / rebuilt. Interior is tatty but that is unimportant just now! Every part is a LR original except for the DeCarbon shocks.

day old chicks---shoot the Bas---ds. that i'll cure em. Seriously could be a noisy accessories (fan) belt. Get a tin of spray -- and the noise will go away. If it is badly worn replace. .good luck with your trip Chris.

dont go for the Haynes book of lies. You will wear your fingers and brain out going from one stupid reference to another. Go to the search pages and download a pdf and browse and print what you want Then Throw away the dirty pages . Costs minimal . |Frustration score 0. Chris

Hi Folks, thanks for all you comments - I downloaded the w/s manual from the site you guys suggested.

I am not really sure what happened towards the end of the thread - der i don't geddit

Alter all that the rotational squeak i was getting has mysteriously gone away - i am kinda sure it will return. It seems like shooting the day old chicks did the trick!

i certainly get more respekt in London now i was even waved on by a bus driver - that has never happened in the Morgan

Regards Michael
