No, dunno what that means. To find out what's squaking I'll get my fat mate to bounce the bumper and see what makes a noise...They're parabolics so might just be wearing in on the sliders

coat the springs in some gooey old fashioned sticky grease - then wrap in denso tape, some use hessian sacking - protects the leaves

What did you guys use to get the bushes back in? Ive wasted one bush trying to get it in with threaded M12 bar but the threads pulled. Should I use a round file to make the captive sleeve bigger?

Did you clean the holes up with emery? Mine all popped back in suspiciously easily after that, except one. The one difficult one was helped by warming the chassis with a blowtorch and putting the bush in a bucket of water to cool it. The temperature difference made it smaller than the hole. (Your bucket of water might not be cool enough today it was minus three when I did mine!)

The others all popped in without any effort - beginning to suspect that's where my squeaks are coming from.

put a ickle chamfer on the new bush outer, get a mini flapwheel and run it through the chassis hole to get rid of as much crap as possible, coat the chassis inner with grease - I've got the proper press tool somewhere but the last few I've done have been drifted in using an old socket that I turned down so it bears down on the new outer - freezing the new bush apparently also helps (am skeptical if it really does help)

WOW, I looked out of my front window and someone had had put a bush puller set on my chassis. I had no idea who it was but turned out it was an ex-mechanic who had been watching my progress and having a chat as he walked past my drive. I went to thank him tonight and bought the tool off him. Good guy. Anyway, I will be burning out this second bush out and reaming the hole a bit further before fitting the other bushes. Just as well I bought 4. These pattern bushes are too big.

its not just landys that pattern bushes are too big on i done a pair on the back of a ford fiesta as a favour ( what a fekkin bitch of a job ) the fekkers were 3mm wider than the fekkin hole i took 2.5mm off the bush with the lathe and the fookers were still tight as a ducks asshole in january

i wont be doing that without chargeing accordingly in future :eek::eek:

I normally run the grinder down the new bush to reduce the diameter slightly, clean the hole in the chassis with emery cloth and then they go in fairly easy with a couple of wallops with the lump hammer. Just don't take too much off otherwise they come straight out the other side of the chassis like a bullet! (not that I've done that.........honest)

Well thats both chassis bushes fitted, both are in tight as the north end of a south flying duck. I used the threaded rod at first as the bolt is initially too short in the tool I bought of a local guy yesterday. I used a round file to ream out the captive tube in the chassis and filed a bit off the bushes. I greased them up and in they went. Why is there a fifty quid difference between pattern bushes and genuine Landy ones, are they really much better?
