Disco 2 Sports Mode

Hi,

I have just picked up my D2 4.0 ES V8 and had great fun driving it home. I noticed by the gear selector there is a mode button. According to the manual this switches on Sports Mode in normal driving. Nothing happens when I push it, no S lights up on the dash (also no S illuminates when I turn the key to postition 2 when engine is off). The Disco was registered in Dec 2001 and has now been converted to springs as well.

Any advise gratefully received.

It ain't working!

sorted.

My two are manual boxes, but No2 son has a 99 V8 ES with auto and his does operate as it should, Sport Mode changes the gearbox change up/down speeds etc.

The ECU is under the passenger seat, under the Harmon Kardon amplifier bracket.

Check it is plugged in correctly and not full of water or anything like that.

There is also an interlock with the High/Low switch on the transfer box.

If the box otherwise works normally then I'd suggest looking round the wiring for starters.

Get a download of the workshop manual "RAVE" from the internet.

Thank you Peter, I will have a good dig around. The driver's and passenger's seats have little screens in the headrests and it came with a PS2 (plugs under passenger seat) but cant seem to get that working as well. The CD changer under the drivers seat is missing but is replaced with a box of tricks called "Mobile TV Super Tuner"
