Last week posted on here that had nowt to do to the wife's freelander, but by christ did I speak to soon.Sent oldest son outside the weekend to take sump guard off so i could fit new front down pipe well after 10minutes he came back and said he could'nt do it as it was to heavey, so I put me tea cuppa down put me coat on and went and looked well the first thing i noticed was engine dont look right, upon closer inspection found the drivers side engine mounting bolts had completly snapped and the only thing holding engine up was sump guard whitch was only attached by 1 bolt at the front now  so is it common for engine bolts to snap or is it just a 1 off. thanks

ive not heard it being common, would certainly expect the driver to notice increased vibration, noise and visually shaking of the car by the bolts being loose, let alone missing to the point of engine not looking right. the stress on the gearbox would surely express some vibration through the stick.

 surprised it got that far to be honest.

anyway as already mentioned, new mounts and bolts. hopefully no other/permanant damaged done.

luckly the car was on the drive ticking over for about 10minutes before wife went out to drive it and she said it was making a funny noise so turned it off. I assumed it was the flexi pipe finally given up as i knew it was weak so car was not driven anywere thanks for your replys

My last freelander 1 engine was found to be hanging by 1 (loose) engine mount bolt on the drivers side, passengers was fine. Other drivers side bolts were all sheared off in the block. Managed to drill one out and helicoil repair although access was a complete b'stard of a job.

Checked the latest one when I bought the bugger.
