Speedo problem/wiper parking

Hi, I have a 96 300tdi discovery jap import and the speedo is reading about 8mph out. I have fit a new sender unit but still have the same problem. Anybody come across this before and do you think the answer is a new speedo head ? my next question is about the windscreen wipers parking. Is the park switch built into the motor? Spent a small fortune on getting her right. Now just the niggles to sort out !

Is it consistent 8mph out at all speeds, or is this at a particular speed?

Was the jap spec wheel/tyre combo the same as UK, if the rolling radius was different it could be it's not calibrated for UK spec?

My Import has a similar issue but is out by different amounts the faster you go, has never been a major problem though. It came with 205/80 r16 road tyres and did make a difference when i fitted 235/70 muds.

Is the speedo flickering or is it constantly out?

For the wipers, do they always park in the same place?

That is fairly typical, as long as it reads high. I think the legal limit is 10%. My 300Tdi I had in Zimbabwe would show 120, when the GPS said 112. That's km/hr by the way - I hadn't supercharged it! My Vectra when I had it would read 77mph when the GPS said speed was 70.

Just had a look at the Rave manual, and there is no calibration mentioned there at all. The speedo is electonic, so unlikely to break that easily. I would agree with other posters that tyre size is a very likely culprit.

Sorry i have not been online for a couple of days. I'm sure the tyres are correct as i checked for the pressure in the hand book and it stated the tyres that are fitted. i will check tomorrow. The wipers stop on the intermitent sweep about a third of a cycle at a time, and on normal they stop as soon as you turn them off without travelling back to the park position. I swapped the wiper relay with the front and rear wiper but made no difference. Its got me pulling my hair out.

Sorry Speedo seems to be constantly out 8mph over had my sat nav in tonight and no matter the speed seems the same ! Its just a niggle.

All speedo's over read.. mine is 5mph over running 235/70/16's
