Hello,
When I took apart my landy before rebuilding, I put the clamp that holds the speedo in (533765) and the bolt/stud with a nut in a safe place. So safe, I can't find it.

I've ordered a new clamp, but need a new bolt or stud with a nut to go through the clamp into the transfer box - anyone have a description / part number?

I've found a photo that makes it look like a stud and nut : http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=14601 <---- the last photo shows it.

I've done searches and all the diagrams show the clamp from the speedo drive end, rather than the speedo cable end - so doesn't show the bolt or stud.

Even just a size would be useful - I tried a few spare bolts I had but none are small enough

Oohh...I've got mine out at the mo-, will take a pic for you and see if I can check the stud size as well, back in a bit...

Stud is 30mm overall length, 10mm of it fits in the box, 5mm of plain (non threaded) stops it screwing in further, then 15mm left for the clamp. thread is standard m6 both ends.

Cheers!

So really I could get an m6 bolt and nut and make my own so to speak? If i put the m6 nut onto the bolt, put the bolt through the clap and then unwind the nut till it's held in......

Yes you could, however my engineering thinking brain asks me "why do LR use a stud?". The threaded hole in the box might go straight through? If you wind a bolt in too far will it damage something internally? Would the lack of plain shank that the stud has but the bolt doesn't cause it to work loose or leak oil?
Non of these things may be an issue but a stud will be very cheap and it will be a proper job. You can get a longer stud and cut both ends of it if necessary to the measurements I've given you.
If the threaded hole is blind then a bolt will be ok as you suggest.

Put double ended stud into eBay, less than £2 each. Your local engineering supplies shop probably 50p or less.

wow! i tried a search before but couldn't see anything. Ordered that now plus a pack of nuts so will see what its like when it arrives and report back!

Finally all the parts arrived. I ordered the stud from ebay, apparently supposed to be for a motorbike exhaust. First time only an envelope arrived, it must have fallen out in transit so they resent with it taped to the paper and all fine.

The metal bit that goes over the stud arrived fine, just in time for me to find my old one - but I fitted the new as the old seemed a little mishaped. took a few minutes getting it to screw in as not much space between the handbrake drum and transferbox, but all in all seems fine!

thanks again
