Currently the spare wheel is located on a wheel carrier that swings out with the back door. However, I'm just about to replace the cappings with a galv set and am considering not replacing the wheel carrier as I have to drill the cappings to mount it. But that begs the question where to carrier a spare wheel or even if one needs to be carried - discuss.

110 csw mainly used on the road and for camping trips.

I have considered mounting the wheel on a board on the roof bars but how difficult is it to get down safely?

Where do you carry yours?

With a canvas soft top I didn't have much choice but to mount the spare wheel secured by brackets onto the middle bulkhead! The bonnet though was a consideration! "Happy New Year " everyone kind regards Chris:D

Mine is on the cage over the front of the roof as you can see in my avatar. I'm still fit enough to be able to get it off there without too much drama but I can see a day in the not too distant future when I'll be needing to put it in a more accessible location. Mine is also pretty heavy as it's a Boost alloy with big chunky rubber.

Good place for it and out of the way too, I'd have to carry a stool around to get it up their though

Mine is in the shed. 6 months and no flats yet.

I would call a mobile tyre fitter I use, he has visited my home and place of work. Or go home and get the spare in the back of my other landrover.

If I was offloading of course I see the need for it, but on road a flat is such an unusual event I am happier to save weight.
