Spare wheel cover thread!!

Last year, mine went into RCV (Paddock Wood, Kent) for a service without a spare wheel cover and when I collected it there was one of theirs on the back! Free advertising I suppose?

Have thought about getting a round sticker to cover the RCV decal with our own business info but personally I prefer the wheel without a cover, especially with a nice alloy on show.

I agree
A nice alloy looks best

i've a few created designs ready for 'print' ..
but
1 .. it's not a priority .. have other more practical things for my hippo expenditure
2 .. i can't decide which design i like the best
3 .. someone will probably nick it
4 .. the last driver in whom i accidently induced road-rage .. will probably remember the cover design and not my reg. plate
5 .. i like the cover 'as-is'
6 .. i haven't found another cover made of the type of material i want ( current cover not be suitable for printing on )
7 .. when it comes to stone walls and various foliage .. the spare's cover is .. on occasion .. my rear parking sensor ;)

if i were advertising a business .. then it be a different matter altogether ..

btw: here's a place that does hand-painted ones

not too keen on the chosen designs me'self .. but each to their own :)

the reason i like them is that they hide the alloy since its the easiest wheel to get nicked...no jacking needed just a locknut

:behindsofa:
I have thought about removing mine and exposing the alloy. It's a pain to stretch it over the wheel and I would hate to have to do it when it's pi**ing rain down-which is usually the time that a puncture happens !! Despite turning it so the "Land Rover" logo is at the top, it always manages to rotate itself within a few minutes of driving to the same, out of position location.

Handy having had a cover on when you come to sell the spare as unlikely you will have ever used it, as Synchrones are no longer manufactured there is a good market on eBay for unused spare tyres as long they don't suffer from the usual side wall cracking.
