When I bought my 110 it already had a spare wheel carrier fitted, and looking at the various manufacturer's models it looks like it's a Mantec.

The trouble is it creaks when you open the back door (I have checked that it's the carrier piston and not the door hinge). Does anyone know if there are any maintenance instructions which might have been with the carrier originally which tells you where/how to lubricate?

I have tried to emailing Mantec for a copy of the fitting instructions, but they don't reply.

Have you tried any wd40 on the hinges followed by spray lithium grease

White Lithium Grease or Spray, Most stealers and mech shops use it on all locks and boot / bonnet struts ;)

I've sprayed white lithium grease on both the carrier's hinges and the door's just in case), but when I open the door, and slip my hand down to the horizontal tube behind the wheel I can definitely feel a vibration in harmony with the creaking.

I don't really want to strip the carrier without the installation instructions, just in case there's a knack to re-installing e.g. stand on left leg and spit backwards whilst tightening the bolts :D

had the same problem just kept tweaking the tension nut on the end of the piston then tighten it with the locking nut plus lubricate it goodluck
