Hmm, yes, I made some alcoholic ginger beer a few weeks ago; it was great; I made 14 litres of it; mostly bottled in 2 l plastic pop bottles. The last container was a 3 l glass cider flagon: it didn't half go bang one night!!!!
I was just glad that me and the aminules were all in the front room, cos there was even big chunks of glass in the dogs' beds, the other end of the kitchen; could have been a "death of a thousand cuts" moment!! I'm waiting for the rain to stop so I can get some Elder heads for some Elderflower Champagne (which can be even more volatile; so I'll be sticking strictly to plastic bottles!!)

Alright Dave, I'm over near Yate.
If you've got an OS map have a butchers belowe Keynsham, and around Chew Valley.
There's a few, been taken around Chew Vally lake, nice but shortish, not sure about the ones below keynsham, wouldn't mind getting over there and having a look.
And as you said Salisbury's not too far away. Giz a PM if you fancy it
