I've just fitted the Exmoor trim Hardura Cockpit trim and the hard work (removing seats) was worth it, gearbox whine and hasher engine noises are much reduced.

I'm not sure it was actually hardura they sent seems more like a closed cell foam with no real "finish" to it.

Anyway I'd like to get some decent heavy closed cell material to put under the bonnet and inside the doors. Does anyone have any good recommendations on where to get. I've looked on ebay where it seems to be about £20+ per square metre which sounds a bit steep to me!

I have Exmoor trim acoustic mats, they make a slight difference to noise level. The downside is removing them to dry out whenever the footwells get wet.
I rebuilt my engine earlier this year and whilst everything was out and clean bought self adhesive soundproofing . Not sure of the ebay supplier but it was enough to do under bonnet, bulkhead and transmission cover. I can honestly say that I have not noticed any reduction in noise level. Maybe I should have spent more on better stuff but all the blurb makes good claims for results.

This stuff that came with the kit here works, I'd like similar material for doing the bits not in the kit. Tappety rattly engine noise is cut down (a bit like turning the treble right down) and horrid whine from overdrive/transfer box is reduced to almost being unnoticeable...

I've found out the hard way that any old foam doesn't work though....

I might try some of the expensive stuff off ebay if no one knows a cheaper source...something like this?

That stuff looks the biz. I would love the hardura stuff if only I could stop the leaks.
