SORN

Just to add,
Had my Defender on a SORN, was stored off road.
kept the insurance running, when it came time for its MOT,
I had let it laspe i couldnt tax it to get it home to do the advisorys from last years ticket.
Had to have it trailered, lasson learnt.
Also, on the odd times when my son buys/sells landys etc he get one day insurance which cost £30.
he is 25yrs.
seems a lot, but keeps him legal.

You illustrate my point, he may insure vehicle for one day but unless he also taxes it and it has a current mot the insurance is invalidated for road use.
To remain legal, he also has to declare a SORN at the end of his 24 hour insurance which automatically cancels his road tax.
So his cost would be £30 insurance plus £27 road tax and if he did not sell to first prospective buyer he would need to go through the same procedure each time he wanted to take the car on a road test as each time he declares a SORN the road tax is cancelled immediately and not at the end of the month.
My point is that this makes it very expensive and difficult for a private seller to retain their old car to sell themselves and remain within the law.
