SORN and Reg Plate

This isnt a specific Landy issue but you guys will know the answer!
About to inherit a 1958 car with a potentially valuable reg plate. Have the V5 but car hasnt been taxed or MOT's for years and no sign of a SORN. What would be the process to enable me to sel the plate, which is potnetially worth five times the amount the car is worth!

i don't think the sorn matters but won't it need to be mot'd to be able to transfer the number off it? I might be wrong but that was the case last time I was involved with switching numbers.

needs to be MOT'd or MOT ran out no more than 6 months

Why ? Pre Jan 1960 cars don't need one .

Why not just sell the car complete with the number, then it's the buyer's problem to transfer it.
